Catherine Resnick

Psychotherapist, Non Executive Director, Strategic Advisor

Catherine offers trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals seeking healing, understanding, and meaningful change. She was drawn to profession of psychotherapy as a catalyst for healing and personal transformation and remains passionate about both.  Catherine undertook her professional training at The Churchill Clinic, was awarded a Diploma (2004) and Graduate Diploma in Analytic Psychotherapy in 2006, subsequently joined the faculty of The Churchill Clinic and achieved full clinical registration with Psychotherapists and Counsellors’ Federation in 2008.

Catherine’s approach is grounded in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, particularly relational psychoanalysis, alongside European continental philosophy, especially phenomenology and existentialism, and contemplative traditions including Buddhism, Zen, and meditation practices. This philosophical foundation informs a therapeutic process that attends to the depth and complexity of human experience.

Who Catherine Works With

Catherine works with individuals across the full spectrum of psychological concerns, offering particular expertise in:

  • Complex trauma and early relational wounds
  • Depression, anxiety, and emotional distress
  • Neurodivergence, especially Autism spectrum experiences and ADHD in adults
  • Significant life transitions and relationship difficulties
  • The connection between physical and emotional well-being
  • Existential questions of meaning, purpose, and direction

A Personalised Approach

Catherine’s practice is developmental rather than manualised. She tailors her approach to each person’s unique psychology, history, and circumstances. Her work is well suited to individuals who:

  • Seek understanding of underlying patterns, not just symptom management
  • Have found cognitive-behavioral approaches insufficient
  • Want a therapeutic relationship that honours complexity
  • Are ready to explore their inner world with sustained attention
  • Value a process that respects their intelligence and lived experience

Therapy with Catherine involves careful listening, thoughtful inquiry, and a commitment to addressing what truly matters—not what is merely expedient. The work attends to both insight and lived change, recognising that understanding oneself more fully creates the foundation for relating differently to others and to life itself.

Professional Background

Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Catherine provides confidential executive counsel and strategic advisory for founders, CEOs, boards and complex organisations through Amygdala Consulting.

Catherine brings experience in governance and organisational leadership, serving as Chair of The Raine Study (a prominent longitudinal health research study), Non-Executive Director of Diabetes WA, and on the WA Government’s Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Advisory Group. Previously, she was CEO of KinChip Systems (a digital health company) and CEO of The Churchill Clinic Inc, where she developed nationally accredited psychotherapy qualifications.

This broader professional experience deepens Catherine’s understanding of the pressures, transitions, and relational complexities that individuals, particularly those in leadership or demanding professional roles, navigate in their lives.
