Jan grew up in New York, then did his professional training in London where he lived and worked for over 16 years. He completed two psychotherapy trainings there, one with The Guild of Psychotherapists and one with The Philadelphia Association. He worked with some leading figures in the field including R.D. Laing, John Heaton, Christopher Bollas and Rosemary Gordon.

Jan founded two mental health charities in England, one in Oxford and one in London. He moved to Australia in 1990 and founded two further charities in Perth, one called Australia Dreaming, a children’s charity, and one called The Churchill Clinic, a nationally accredited, registered training organisation which he ran for 18 years until 2008.

Jan was the Founding President of the Psychotherapists & Counsellors Association (Inc.) of Western Australia and received and Outstanding Achievement award for his contributions over 10 years there. He also contributed to the founding of the national professional association PACFA – the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia where he served on the training standards and management committees. He served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the national journal Psychotherapy in Australia where he penned a regular column for twenty years. Jan supervised the legal and counselling staff of knowmore, a firm that advised clients of the Royal Commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.

He is an Advisory Board member of Blue Knot Foundation (formerly ASCA, Adult Survivors of Child Abuse) and an Advisory Board member of both the Virtual Medical Centre and Virtual Psychiatry Centre, an online resource for doctors and the public. He has been supervising Developmental Paediatricians at the State Child Development Centre for over 8 years and has taught and been an accredited supervisor of psychiatry registrars (in psychotherapy) for the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has run supervision groups for over 30 years for mental health professionals and also for consultant psychiatrists over 14 years.

Catherine is a psychotherapist and strategic advisor with a focus on improving the bio/psycho/social and economic well being of individuals, organisations and communities. Catherine was drawn to profession of psychotherapy as a catalyst for healing and personal transformation and remains passionate about both.  She undertook her professional training at The Churchill Clinic, was awarded a Diploma (2004) and Graduate Diploma in Analytic Psychotherapy in 2006, subsequently joined the faculty of The Churchill Clinic and achieved full clinical registration with Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation in 2008.

Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Catherine has extensive commercial and entrepreneurial experience including strategy, digital transformation and cultural change. Recently appointed to the Industry Advisory Group for the WA Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy, Catherine is a commercialisation advisor to early-stage life science and digital health innovators. Beyond the life sciences sector, Catherine is a sought-after advisor to high growth private and multi-generational family businesses in Australia and the USA, providing strategic planning, governance, succession planning, executive coaching, culture change and philanthropic advisory. 

Catherine is Chair of The Raine Study, non executive director of Diabetes WA and a graduate of The Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Previously, Catherine was CEO of KinChip Systems, a digital health company, and CEO of The Churchill Clinic Inc, a Registered Training Organisation and Health Promotion Charity delivering accredited trainings in psychotherapy and counselling.

Working with individuals across the full range of concerns that might arise in therapy, Catherine offers psychotherapy and counselling sessions in person in Claremont WA, or online. In her view, the advent of online therapy is an important means to increase access for individuals and carers with time or mobility challenges and extend the access and reach of psychotherapy into rural and remote areas.
